To parse an X12 file to ODBC you must first set up a Data Source Name or DSN on your Windows PC.
You can set up a data source using the ODBC Data Source Administrator. The ODBC Data Source Administrator is located
in the Control Panel in Administrative Tools.
In the ODBC Data Source Administrator Click on Add to create a new DSN.
In our example we will be using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express.
http//www.microsoft.com/express/sql/default.aspx
We have installed our SQL Server and we will select SQL Server Native Client 10.0 as the new data source that we
want to create and press the Finish button.
We will name our data source
testsql
And click on the Finish button.
Now in the X12 Parse Click the picture of the gears

Parse
Select the Source File that you wish to parse.
Set the Output Type to ODBC
When you set the Output Type to ODBC and then click the FILE button to set your destination file, a Select DSN dialog box will display.
Select testsql as the DSN.
Type in test123 as the new table name.
Click Continue
The Destination File will be specified as
testsql:test123
Click the Begin button to parse the file.
When the process is complete you can open up the SQL Server Management Studio and there will be a new database table called dbo.test123 populated with data from the x12 file.
